Exploring Darby

Ed and Christina were picking us up at 8 am and we don't get the early starts like we used to when we were still working.  I opened the refrigerator to get some eggs out and found a mess.  My last jar of pickles that we had purchased at the pickle factory in Indiana dripped down through the whole fridge from the top shelf down into the veggie drawers.  It was sticky all over the fridge.  

Ed and Christina arrived shortly after I had the mess cleaned up.  The had a list of garage sales in the next three or four towns.  This was great because we drove through all the back roads which all had different views of the Bitterroot Valley.  Christina was looking for a refrigerator as an extra when she is ready to harvest the vegetables from her garden.  

We had the bed of the truck filled with our garage sale treasures when Eddie remembered he left the sprinkler running in the garden.  No problem, we returned to his home to shut off the water and empty the truck.  I was so thrilled to find a crate of Christmas lights for $3.00.  The next place we stopped had a big box of freebies.  This was even better as they had more lights.  Bill and I plan to attend a Montana rally in Nebraska that has a Christmas in July theme.  Christina found a double door fridge with icemaker for $50.

The last time we were in Darby a fellow at the Elk's recommended Naps Restaurant.  It was just as good as we remembered.  Their hamburger is hand formed from real Montana beef.  Did I mention it was 3/4 of a pound?  We were smarter this time--we split the meal.  It included fresh cut french fries that were filled in a basket the same size as the burger.  The meal also included your drink.  The best part was it was still $8.75.  They also had steaks, salads, and other sandwiches which I'm sure were delicious too.  

By the time they dropped us off, we were tired.  After a short nap we walked the streets of Darby.  Bill enjoyed talking to a fellow in a hand made hat store.  The town is charming and the people are very friendly.  

Tomorrow morning the adventures start at 9 am.
