Shipshewana Flea Market

Elkhart County Fairgrounds
Goshen, Indiana

Anyone who stops in the Elkhart area on a Tuesday or Wednesday doesn't miss the Shipshewana Flea Market.  We were no different.

There's something unique about driving down a road and seeing the Amish in their horse drawn buggy.  I'm sorry I didn't remember the camera today.

When we arrived at the flea market we parked in row 2.  In the past we were way back in the field.  I don't know if the predicted high temperatures in the upper 90's with high humidity had anything to do with the fewer people, but we weren't complaining.

As usual we didn't buy much but we did get a lot of walking in.  I should have tracked the distance on my phone, but I never think about it until I quit walking.  We walked all of the rows.

Even though it was warm, there was a nice breeze.  I've always expected to see more home made merchandise instead of the Chinese junk.  The few vendors that had furniture or homemade baskets had beautiful pieces.

E.  S. bulk food sales is just down the street and worth the experience.  Bill and I sampled so much cheese, it was difficult to pick out some favorites.  Now everyone knows cooking isn't my specialty, but I did walk up and down the aisles with all the different flours and baking stuff.  No point in buying any of that stuff.

Usually we take a bicycle ride in the evening thanks to Sharon and Roger Hime, but I think we'll pass on that today.

We're trying to figure out the logistics of having the Mountaineer to Lipperts at 7 am on Thursday with the bay empty.  I'm sure it will go smoothly just not sure where to put all the stuff that's in the basement.

  1. I can't even begin to imagine where Jim would put all his stuff if he had to clean out his bay. That would be a disaster. I love that area around Goshen. We're at Angler's Roost tonight.

  2. Are you down by the river? We stayed right on the river behind the office. Probably the only people who didn't have a fishing pole. Naps is really worth stopping at for a hamburger.

We decided to put the stuff in their garage while they do it. Up very early tomorrow.
