Pilot Knob

Pilot Knob BLM
California

I drove Bill up to the eye doctor in Chandler yesterday and stopped and picked up the rally food.  We came back to Casa Grande grabbed a quick lunch and hitched up the 5er.
Bill had a great report from the doctor.  He can see 20/25 and is still healing.  The bad part was they had to heavily dilate his eyes and he couldn't drive.  He's now ready for the left eye.
This was directly after the surgery on the 30th.

We were on the road by 12:30 and other than one stop at the rest stop for Bill's eye drops we were in California by 3:30.  Toni and Sandie met us at the Shell station and I followed them back to where everyone was parked.  There were some sandy deep holes but the truck had no problems but my copilot was a little nervous.

Thankfully, I had made my dish for the potluck the night before and all I had to do was pop it in the oven.

All you followers from up north, did you notice Tom is wearing shorts and short sleeves?
Sandie has thinner blood and is wearing a jacket.
I didn't get a lot of photos because we were too busy eating.

This morning Roadrunner RV washed and polished the Mountaineer.  We needed the roof washed and decided we are getting too old to be up there so had the whole thing done.  Dennis Hill recommended them and I figured we couldn't go wrong with his recommendation.

Can you imagine having a 9 am appointment on BLM land and they showed up on time and had no trouble finding us.  There was a group of us watching them work.
Thank you Sandie for taking these photos during the wash job.
It really wore us out and some decided it warranted a nap.  I convinced Bill that we saved all that energy for a walk in the desert.
The nice folks on the other side of us invited us to their happy hour.  We sampled a bottle of Tekali--almond flavored tequila.  I'm sure that will be our souvenir of our trip to Mexico tomorrow.  We enjoyed them so much, we invited them to join us in Parker.

They were so welcoming that they even got our chairs for us.
They will make great Escapees.

And the sun started setting....

OK, 6 pm time to quit having fun and go fix dinner.

  1. Very nice welcome and comeraderie! (sp?) Glad you're having such a good time in the desert. Nice sunset, too.
