Oklahoma Lakeside

Grove, Oklahoma
Cedar Oaks RV Park

Yesterday we had planned to leave Poplar Bluff, but Marilyn played dirty.  She took us to a flea market on Saturday which we left as they were closing and then showed us the outside of all the other flea markets.  Of course, Bill very easily agreed to stay another day.

Sunday morning Marilyn came over to say that breakfast was almost ready.  Of course, you didn't have to tell us twice.  We sat around the table and listened to some of L. C.'s interesting stories.  What an interesting life he has had.

After breakfast, L. C. climbed up on our roof to check our satellite.  I climbed up the day before and thought about changing the coax that I installed earlier this summer.  L. C. found a short in the coax.  A new piece of coax and no more intermittent problems.  Thank you, L. C.

Once the satellite was fixed, we visited all the flea markets.  These aren't the kind of flea markets they have in Arizona where you can buy socks, t-shirts, tools and clothes.  These are real flea markets.  Bill found a Chilmark western pewter piece for $20.00.  These usually sell for two hundred and up with some pieces over $5,000.

Marilyn prepared a delicious dinner with L. C. doing the barbecuing.  Ellie, Amber and Sassy all wanted Bill's attention.  I don't know why I didn't get any photos of the dogs.
It's also sad to say "see 'ya" to these two, but we always know our paths will cross again someday.

This morning our travel plans were to drive over to Springfield, but when we arrived in Springfield, Bill kept on driving to Grove, Oklahoma.  The Boyer's told us about this area and they thought we'd enjoy the Har-Ber Village.  I know there was a COE park here, but Bill wanted to empty the holding tanks and he doesn't like to empty the black tank at a dumping station.  He likes to flush the black tank, and if someone else is in line to dump, he won't take the time to do it.

The lake is gorgeous here, and I'm looking forward to exploring this town tomorrow.  We have a pull thru site facing the lake.  It's a very attractive and quiet park.  The views are fabulous and total cost was $26.95.  We passed up a casino and after we stopped, found out the Westerfield's were there.

I took this picture of the turtle stool I bought at the flea market.  I want to sand it down and use the hickory stain that I received at Middlebury Hardwoods.  I thought I'd make a cushion for the top.  My three dollar investment will look nice when I'm done.

  1. We have been to Har-Ber Village a few times and enjoyed that area. Also close by is the Daryl Starbird National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame Museum (http://darrylstarbird.com/) I have been to a few times too. Couple years ago actually met Daryl and saw his workshop.
