Montana Today

Missoula, Montana
Jim and Mary's RV Park

It was still cold this morning with temperatures in the 40's. It was cloudy but not raining when Bill pulled out of the Coeur d'Alene Elks lodge.

Gerri Beckman called this morning to suggest a pretty drive, but since it was so cloudy and foggy we opted to take the interstate.

The road was wet but the tire lanes were dry.  I checked the radar and it looked like the rain was heading east and we were out of it. Unfortunately, as we traveled east we caught up to it again.

It wasn't bad and Bill only had to turn the wipers on intermittently.

As we got closer to the state line, we saw more and more snow on the side of the road.

We all know it was Bill's fault for washing the truck the other day.

Every once in a while I have a bad day navigating.  Let's just say we went through Lookout Pass twice.  When I saw the flashing signs saying the road was icy, I couldn't relax.  This probably caused me to make a navigation mistake.  Okay, I admit I made a mistake.  Of course, seeing flurries didn't help. I kept watching the outside temperatures, making sure Bill knew it was below freezing.  The second time across Lookout Pass was better and the temperature was up to 33 degrees. And no, I'm not telling the rest of my mistake.

The temperature got up to 50 degrees at one point. Bill without a jacket, this was the warmest part of the trip.

We pulled into Jim and Mary's RV Park and once we were set up, just enjoyed the day watching TV and looking out at the sunshine.

  1. It's all part of the adventure. You probably missed something the first time and that's why you went back.

  2. At lest it is getting warmer for you now. Twice around the pass and not icy roads sounds pretty good to me.

  3. Ken thought about sending you a picture Saturday, let's just say we were very white outside that morning. It was a very wet snow and stuck to all the trees, leaves, pine needles. It melted off by noon. Hard freeze again here last night. Supposed to warm up to close to 70 for couple of days, then back down to 50's. Life in PNW.
