What is Today and Where Are We?

Gretna, Nebraska
KOA West Omaha

Yesterday we stopped at the Trading Post which is near the RV park.  This isn't the first time we've been here, but they have a nice free museum with a lot of emphasis on Buffalo Bill Cody.

Bill was really impressed with some of the items that were displayed, unfortunately the camera battery was exhausted and we didn't have a spare with us.

Why does the camera say "exhausted".  Couldn't they come up with something better than that?

Before we left this morning, there was a lot of excitement at the RV park as a fellow won $160,000 at the casino.

We left North Platte early this morning as there was a big cold front predicted with winds.  I drove today as the interstate was in good condition and when we left there were no winds.

It didn't take long before I could feel a broadside wind.  The sun was out and other than the wind there were no problems.  Traffic became heavy near Lincoln and Omaha.

I pulled into a water/electric site here at the KOA, as that is all the website said was available for our size.

Ron and Mary Lichtenberg and Jan and Paul Kelpe came by and took us to dinner.  Mary arrived with a baked dessert from her kitchen and fresh cucumbers.  We had so much for dinner, we'll save the baked treat for our morning coffee.

Ron chose Round the Bend for dinner.  It is known for 24 years of hosting the testicle festival.

I have to say the food was delicious.  My steak was done perfectly.  I like mine rare and so many places overcook it.

Can you tell we were having a good time?  I was surprised that Paul didn't stand on his head though.  Maybe at this year's MOC.

For some reason the rest of the photos all came out blurry.

These long driving days are starting to take a toll.  It's difficult to know what day and where we are.

I have to say if you want to read a good book, Jumping Off by our friend, Doug Laird is excellent.  It wasn't the kind of book that I expected.  I'm not sure what I expected, but once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.

  2. You could have extended your trip with that kind of win at the Casino.
Remember those broadsided winds from when we had our previous truck. With the dually we don't feel that anymore.
Always nice having fun with friends.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
