Introducing Friends to the Area

Elkhart, Indiana
Camp MorRyde

Yesterday rain was predicted but we took a chance and went to Shipshewana Flea Market anyway.  Harry and Carlena enjoy flea markets and it is only open Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I found a treasure, a wind turtle.  I'll take a picture of it when I set it up.

We were nearly finished with the flea market when it started raining, but we weren't done for the day.  If you think Harry went crazy with his first visit to Menard's, you should have seen him when we took him to Bontrager's RV Salvage.

In case you've never been, it's a place that has nearly every component of a RV, from bathtubs and showers to steps to every nut and bolt.  Would you believe we only bought a bag of screws?  Of course, there was a lot of things that we needed to have more information and sizes about before we purchased something.  No problem they are open six days a week and I'm sure we'll be going back again before we leave the area.

If you are new to the area, you also need to have a meal at Das Dutchman Essenhaus which is Indiana's largest restaurant.  I knew that Marilyn and LC Boyer were staying at a hotel while their Solitude is at the factory for repairs.

They met us at the restaurant and had a chance to meet Harry and Carlena.  Left to right, me, Harry, Carlena, Marilyn and LC.  Boo is in the center.  Of course, Bill took the photo.

By the time we returned, we just went inside and crashed for the evening.  I don't think anyone else was interested in Happy Hour either.

Today we took Harry and Carlena to Meijer's with us.  They really enjoyed the store.  They also had never tried a Steak N Shake, so we stopped there for lunch.

As we were returning to the fairgrounds, we saw Glenn and Mary Strom entering.  They were lucky that their site for the rally was open.

When we returned to the fairgrounds, Harry helped change a headlight in our truck.  I noticed a Big Sky in the row in front of us.  I thought it looked like George and Rosetta Person's coach.

After visiting with George and Rosetta for a few minutes, we walked back to hitch up.  It seemed strange to be hitching up at that time of day.

As we left the fairgrounds, we passed a Solitude which I think might have been the Bradley's.

We're parked at Camp MorRyde and don't plan to stay up late.  They will take the coach into the shop at 6 am.  It's going to be a short night.
