Hot Sauce and Avery Island

Abbeville, Louisiana
Betty's RV Park

George and Linda moved their coach over to a full hook up site as soon as it was vacant this morning.

As soon as they were unhitched we all climbed into our truck and headed to Avery Island and the Tabasco Museum and factory tour.  Bill and I toured the Tabasco plant in the past, but decided to go again.  George and Linda visited the gift shop but not the plant.  Harry and Carlena had never been there.  It's just so much fun to be around these happy people.

George checked out the pepper plants.

Look how studious the girls look, and then there's Harry checking out his phone.  We were watching a video about how they prepare the oak barrels.

Here's the barrels stored in another building.  Notice they cover the barrels with salt.

The favorite photo place in the Tabasco plant.
Left to right:  Linda, George, me, Carlena and Harry.

We saw a half dozen or so gators in the Jungle Gardens, along with some turtles and birds.

I could hardly wait for lunch since I knew where we were going.  I must say the Bon Creole has changed.  They put up signage, mowed the grass and painted the building to look like it might be a business.

Bill and I split a shrimp Po Boy and a bowl of shrimp gumbo.  That's half a
sandwich Bill is holding.  Bill said "I can't eat all that."  Oh yes, he could!

Everyone enjoyed their po boys.

We stopped at Walmart and I transferred some medications but we didn't have time to wait for them to be filled as we had to hurry back for happy hour.

Happy hour was a lot of fun, so much fun, I forgot to take any photos.  Betty was telling us of things to see and where to eat.  Nanc was the secretary and making notes of what we are going to see tomorrow and Thursday.  Of course, where to stop for lunch was included in the list.  Betty called and made reservations for us.

Everyone laughed when we heard that one couple went to Abshire's Country Store and called back to Betty, who wanted a shrimp salad, to tell her they were out of shrimp until next week.  Glad we went yesterday.

We need to leave by 8:30 am tomorrow to have time to see everything.  Thursday it looks like we will be starting the day at 7:30.  I feel like we are still in France on that busy trip.

We are really enjoying our time at Betty's.  Betty makes sure everyone has someplace interesting to see.  I know George, Harry, Bill and I will enjoy the tour for tomorrow.  We'll see what Carlena and Linda think after the tour.
