We Had Company.

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Elks Lodge

It rained during the night and was cloudy and misty this morning.  We has a banner a couple of blocks away announcing the farmers market yesterday.  We rode over this morning but didn't see a lot of people so came back home.  Later, Stephanie told us that Farmers Market commences next weekend.

We wanted a few items at Costco and $70.00 later walked out of the store holding our few items.

Curtis called and said they'd be over in the afternoon.  It was so good to see them.  They told of us of so many things to do and places to see while we are in Alaska.

You would have thought it had been years since we last saw them instead of six weeks.  They said they have had some really cold weather since they left Arizona for their home near here.

Curtis suggested Elmer's for a dinner.  It was very good and we lingered for a long time while chit chatting.

We did get word from the Loosey Goosey bunch about an avalanche on the Icefield Highway.  Of course, we are planning to take that route to Alaska.  If anyone has any alternate routes please share them with us.

Tomorrow is a travel day.

  1. We are taking a pretty direct route from Calgary to Dawson Creek. We'll visit Jasper and Banff on our way back to the lower 48 in late July.

  3. Jan, our friends Bob and Carol Sanders (do you know them?) are on their way to Alaska with 3 other couples and were planning on Banff and Jasper along the way, going through the Icefields Parkway. I saw the news about the avalanche closing the Parkway and let them know. Bob looked up the info on 511 Alberta and it sounded like it would be cleared and the road opened by the time they reach that point. I don't know what 511 Alberta is or what the timeline is projected to have it cleared and opened up but you may want to google 511 Alberta and see what you can find out. That is such a lovely area to travel and would hate for you to miss it. The Athabaskan glacier is there. If you have the opportunity take the tour and walk out on the glacier. The ride in the big truck with giant tires is one you won't forget.

Aren't Stephanie and Curtis just the sweetest? Love them! Enjoy your time in their area.

Safe travels to you and Bill.

  4. Nice seeing Curtis again on your blog again. Kathy and I enjoyed visiting with him at the raceway and seeing him again at Escapade.
Hopefully the Avalanche will be cleared up before you get to that area.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
