Grandma's for the Night

Sheperdsville, KY
Grandma's RV Park

I had a bad case of "hitch itch" even though we had a great time at the MOC Rally.  We've been in Northern Indiana and southern Michigan for a month and I was ready to get on the road to someplace else.  We pulled out of the Elkhart County Fairgrounds about 8:45 this morning.  It looked like it was going to be a beautiful day but the later it got, the worse the fog became.

This was route 15 about 11 am

 This was about 2 pm.

Last year when we were in the Indianapolis area the roads were all under construction.  Today we had smooth sailing over about 20% of the way.  Interstate 65 was closed in the downtown area so all the other by-passes had to be used.  There was an 18 wheeler on the side with a couple of other vehicles involved in a collision.  When we finally got on I 65 south it was in poorer condition than the back roads of Goshen.  It was down to one lane for construction.  No problem, we're not that far from Kentucky so it should be better.  Right?

Here we are crossing the Ohio River into Kentucky.  Notice all the rust on the bridge.  Fifel is watching the road for us.

It looked like the sun was coming out so we got our sunglasses out.  Oops, that wasn't much sun, now it's raining.  Now there are signs saying that I 65 is detoured around Louisville.  Now it's rush hour, raining and we notice our side lights are out on the trailer.  Which may mean we have no brake or turn signals.  Bill negotiated the rig through all that mess with finesse.

Last year we spent a week at Grandma's RV Park in Sheperdsville while Bill had a hospital stay and recovered from shingles.  We were happy to see that there were a few sites left when we pulled in.

Set up in the rain was much easier now that we have the level-ups.  Bill wanted to fuel the truck up so off to a gas station we went.  Diesel was $3.79 a gallon and while Bill was fueling up a guy walked over from the furthest pump to tell him he had a beautiful truck.  I couldn't believe he'd say that, it was filthy from all the rain.

The last time we were here we went to the Cattlemen's Roadhouse restaurant with Roger and Sharon Hime for their anniversary.  It was excellent then and today.  They had a special for 2 people, 2 sides and 2 entrees for $20.00 with
the salad bar.  We both chose the sirloin and our's was cooked perfectly.  (Sharon Del Rosario, I think they would get it right for you here.)

Not sure what our plans are for tomorrow....we'll wait and decide then.
