Remangen and Bonn Germany were our next ports. The MS Rhapsody docked at 11 am in Remagen. Lunch was served in the dining room at 11:30 so that those going to Bonn could depart at 1 pm.
Originally our itinerary had us docked in Bonn but due to the river levels changes in the itinerary we docked in Remagen and were bused to Bonn. The highlight was we could tour the bridge. I find I've learned a lot about WWII on this trip.
Bonn was a beautiful town but most famous for Beethoven.
Here's the Beethoven house. It doesn't look old at all.
Here's what the marker above the doorway looked like.
The University of Bonn has a large campus in town. Their education is much more advanced than the US. Foreign students do not have to pay tuition.
There is a huge statue of Beethoven in the town square. Notice on the left side of the photo the TJ Maxx store's in Europe are Hcalled TK Maxx.
Here's Bill finding more history. The Roman's were here!
One thing that Bonn is famous for that I didn't get a photo of was Haribo (Hans Riegel Bonn) Gummi Bears. We did sample some of the great licorice though.
Back to Remagen and the ship for an interactive discussion: "Germany a nation of immigrants" in the lounge.
Turtle Safely........
Another nice interesting port and most history. Thanks for sharing.
