On Our Way

Quartzite, Arizona
Park Place RV Park

It seems like we've been waiting an eternity to begin our adventure to Alaska but we're on our way today.  I checked the odometer and it read 175,615.  We'll see how many miles we go this summer.  We also began this adventure with diesel costing $2.39 per gallon, I have a feeling that will be the last we see of that price.

No adventure can start right if everything goes smoothly.  I usually take care of the water hose while Bill is putting the sewer away.  When I came out I went over to the water hose and turned it.  This type only has an off and on.  I had no idea Bill had already shut off the water.

Notice all the water under the coach?  Yep, you should have seen me.  At least it is Arizona and clothes dry quickly.

2 I pulled out of Sundance RV Resort at about 8:30 am.  I like driving on I 8 so I took the wheel for the first 120 miles.  We have an appointment at RV Lifestyles in the morning to have our rear back motor replaced, if they have the part.  Here's a photo of what the motor looked like after apparently dragging it from Tucson to Casa Grande on I 10.   When we parked it was still wired in and laying across the ladder rung, like someone put it there.
Here's what the motor looked like when we returned to Casa Grande.

I 10 was crowded with lots of motorcycles as the bike week in Phoenix ended.  Some were okay drivers but many weren't.

We had some issues with our ARP refrigerator controller.  I was on the phone with Paul for three different times, but we have it working now.  At first it kept shutting the refrigerator down, and then about 15 minutes latter it would start it up again.  When we purchased it, I gave them the model and age of our fifth wheel.  I didn't tell them that we had a new cooling unit installed in October.  It seems that it needed to be reprogrammed for the newer unit.  Paul was great and helped me reprogram it.  We are now going to stop in Butte and have an additional fan installed.  Thanks to Dave Burtrom for giving me Paul's phone number, that I couldn't find.

I wanted to show you what Bill did while we were waiting to leave.

Here's the lamp over the rocking love seat.  The other lamps we have are trimmed in dark brown on the shades.
With a dark brown marker, the shade now matches the others.

Rather than go into town today, I wanted to stay home and watch the Diamondbacks play.  I figure we will be killing a lot of time tomorrow waiting for the repairs.

Some of the Loosey Goosey bunch have begun heading north.  Sharon and Roger Hime's are also headed to Alaska and Hickory is writing a blog.  Hopefully, we'll see them in Alaska.

Of course we're heading west before we head north.  Our plans are to attend the Escapees WARE rally in Yuba City, CA; visit Bill's cousin, Ken, in La Pine, Oregon; stop in Butte, Mt for a fan and then meet up with some other Loosey Goosey members before crossing the border in Sweetgrass, MT.  You didn't think we'd take the most direct route did you?

Here's a photo of this RV park.  Full hook ups for $19 a night.  Add the fact that we have 50 amp service and a pull thru site makes Bill a happy camper.

  4. Paul doesn't know what rear back motor is. Do you by any chance mean rotor?
Oh how creative Bill is with a marker. Good job.

    1. It came off the rear jacks. We have the level ups so we never use 8 jacks, but it looks strange.

  9. We have stayed at Park Place three times and they keep making improvements. We were right across from the new fenced doggie park on our way out of Arizona. BTW, someone is developing another campground adjacent to this one. It has Passport America rates in the %7-10 range. The sites at both parks are very level.

In 2011 we traveled with Frank and Gloria King to Alaska and met up with Dennis' Loosie Goosie Gang numerous times.
