Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds
It was a beautiful day for a parade and we found one in Nappanee. When Harry, Carlena, Bill and I arrived in Nappanee the participants were just lining up in the staging area. By the time we found a spot to watch the parade, it began a short time later.
I saw all the kids had big zip lock bags. Once the parade started I found out why. It was better than Halloween. One group handed me a bag with a pen in it. I had it half full of candy in no time.
I've never been to a small town parade where they began with a flyover. They flew over numerous times.
We've attended the apple festival the last few years, but never arrived in time for the parade.
The floats were well done and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
There were a lot of politicians running for local offices.
Don Del Rosario should have been here to see this sub.
It was nice seeing all the United States flags on the floats.
No parade is complete without antique cars.
Even Snoppy showed up in the parade.
The parade ended with an endless display of tractors.
After the parade, I thought Harry and Carlena would enjoy the Dutch Village. Well, we'll never know, because they were closed. There was a sign on the door saying that the building had been sold.
The Dime Store in Wakarusa wasn't closed and it was nearby.
Notice Harry started out with a white bag of candy by the pound but ended up with a big basket to hold his candy.
The mural on the wall is made out of jelly beans.
Jim and Vickie Fischer were the last to show up.
We even included two SOB (some other brand) couples.
Turtle Safely.........
There is nothing as nice as small town festivals and parades, glad you enjoyed it.
