We're Still Alive

Caskey's Campground
Orrsville, Ohio

The last two weeks we've been in Weirton, West Virginia and had no internet.

We spent time watching our grandson, Levani, play in the high school band and watching him play soccer.  It was nice to be able to celebrate his 16th birthday with him.  Nikki had a nice dinner party for him.

Nicky is recuperating from some serious surgery, but he still managed to attend the football and soccer games.

Our first visit was from our granddaughter, Taylor.  Her daughter, Piper, was born last October and we finally met her.  It's not the same seeing photos of your Great Grand Daughter.  Piper is so tiny for her age, but she is just starting to walk and we saw her progressing every day.

Shay always hosts an open house every Sunday for brunch.  You never know how many family members or friends of the family will be there.

It was nice to visit with Jenna and Garrett who drove up from Lewiston, WV.
Bill and I never argue but........

who gets to hold the baby could cause an argument.

Shay and Doug know how much Bill hates big cities so they took a day off from work and let Bill pick what he wanted to do in Pittsburgh.

Bill picked the Allegheny County Jail and Museum.

Unfortunately, when we walked up to the entrance, we found it was a real jail. We decided we could find something else to do rather than be an inmate.

If anyone remembers the true story movie of the warden and his wife who fell in love with an inmate, please let me know the name of that movie.

Second choice was the John Heinz History Center.

It was a one of the best history museums we've seen in a long time.  I even think Shay and Doug enjoyed it.

There were 7 floors and two of those floors were dedicated to the history of sports in Pittsburgh.

Shay had to sit in the driver's seat and let Doug know how it felt to give up the steering wheel.

For those people who walked the stairs, you stamped your card and received a pickle pin when you turned it in.

Saturday we attended Levani's soccer game.  It rained the entire time and it was cool out.  Afterward Nicky and Nikki had a barbecue dinner.  Sorry I didn't think to take photos.

After we left we drove the truck back to Shay's since we didn't want to drive at night in the rain, and rode with Shay and Doug to see our granddaughter, Courtney and Josh's home.  Courtney had dinner prepared but we were full from the barbecue.  It really smelled good, though.

Bill had some time to play with Bella.

He did let me play too!

We did get a chance to finally meet Marla and Ed, Josh's parents.  They have a snowbird home in Casa Grande.

Misty and Ray drove over from Columbus to spend the holiday weekend in West Virginia.

Now we really had to share Piper!

Josh brought Bella to the Sunday brunch.

There were a lot of kids at the brunch and they all got tired at the same time, but no one would give in and take a nap.

Shay had a cook-out for Labor Day.  I have no idea how many showed up other than the ones in the family photo.

Love this photo of Courtney and Bella.

Olivia is our youngest grand- daughter.

We haven't seen Alan and Anthony in a couple of years so it was nice they came to the cook out.

I think everyone enjoyed themselves and also ate too much.

Typical teenager with the headphones in.

The weather was as perfect as was the cook out.

Piper enjoys Bella's toys.

Piper finally gets to sit on her Dad's lap.

We'll always remember this Labor Day.

We thought we'd just relax last night before we pulled out today.

First, Shay and Doug stopped by with our grandson, Jeff.   A short while later, grand daughters, Taylor and Courtney stopped and we had another chance to see Piper.

Notice that Piper loves turtles too?

We usually spend a couple of weeks in West Virginia but two weeks wasn't enough to see everyone.  Thank goodness, John Care came to see us as we didn't have a chance to leave the park to visit others.  Bill wanted to meet with some of his former students.  We were sorry we couldn't have dinner with Jim and Nanc Tidball. We never even had a chance to visit with Helen.

That's just a short synopsis of our last two weeks.  I know I had friends wondering what happened to us and I appreciate your concern.

We are in Orrville, Ohio and will be heading to our annual Montana Owners Club Rally in Goshen, IN.  Just a warning, I won't be on the computer the week of the rally.

Turtle Safely..........

    1. Hopefully, it will be before the Escapade. Have your plans for the winter changed with all the hurricane damage predicted for Florida?

  6. Wonderful time with family. I am sorry you couldn't stay longer.

I believe the movie you are talking about is Mrs. Soffel, with Diane Keaton and Mel Gibson. I haven't seen it, but looked it up.
