We're Still Here

Sedalia, Missouri
Missouri State Fairgrounds

Bill and I saw Sherry and Dave packing up so we went to say our "see 'ya's".  As soon as we walked over, it started raining.  We visited a while until the rain blew over.

We walked over to Jan and Paul's rig as they were suppose to pull out yesterday.  Paul had the tool kit out which isn't a good sign.  It seems the motor on his slide went out.  Jan was busy trying to find a part on a Saturday.  Leach's in Omaha will try and get one overnighted on Monday.  Rondo and Mary decided to stick around another day too.

I had a $10 Kohl's cash coupon that was about to expire and wanted to use.  Bill needed some smaller shorts as the ones he has fall off without putting the zipper down.

While we were in the store, Mary 0lson called to say Sarah wanted to come over for "my nail appointment".  As soon as we returned and unloaded the groceries, Sarah was ready for me.  She had asked my favorite colors and had planned out what color was going on each nail.

We spent some time visiting with Sarah and Mary.  Mary spent some time telling us about the HOP they will be hosting.  It sounded pretty good to us when I saw where the RV park is located.

Bill and I hadn't had lunch so we decided to head over to the Country Store again for a very early dinner.  While we were there, Pam called to see if we wanted to go for dinner.

When we returned Bill took his shower and I watched TV on the couch (with my eyes closed).  When Bill came downstairs he asked me who was at the door.  I couldn't believe I didn't hear anyone knock.  We found out this morning that it was Briggs coming over to say goodbye.

Sarah would have been upset if she'd seen my nails after I took my shower.  All the kids nail polish came off in the shower.

Paul went dumpster diving and found this outdoor Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino outdoor rug in the trash can.  Nothing wrong with it except it needed hosed off.

It was a perfect day and we stopped by Pam and Randy for hugs before they left.

We walked over to the furthest Montana here.  Rondo and Mary even had some burros and horses that enjoyed some carrots Mary had.  They were hitching up so we got some hugs and left them alone to do their thing.

Jan and Paul had visited the Bothwell Lodge earlier this week and thought we'd enjoy it.  She said they'd wait outside while we toured the lodge so off we went.  Bill had seen the lodge when we came in on hwy 65.

John Homer Bothwell purchased the land in 1896.  He built the 31 rooms in four phases.  The lodge has 12,000 square feet.

Tours began at 11 am on Sunday and we arrived about 10:55.  Bill and I were pleased to see that we were the only ones on the tour and we had two guides.

We were to meet our guide on the breezeway.  The weather was beautiful now, even if we did have the fireplace on this morning.

You can tell where the additions were added in this photo.

The views were fantastic--that's hwy 65.

Our guide told us that everyone that visited the lodge signed the guest book.

This was the music room where his wife, who died a few short years after they were married, played the piano.  They never had any children and John Bothwell never remarried.

Notice the three faucets?  There is hot, cold and soft water.  The soft water was collected from the rain.

Nearly all of the furnishings are original.

The lodge contained 11 bedrooms.  I tried to count how many staircases we climbed up and down and lost count at 10.

There were many unique objects in the library which had over 2,000 books.

When we went downstairs we surprised an employee who was guarding a door.  Here our guide is showing us the generator and bank of batteries.

When we left the house two men were talking with Paul, and they thanked us for sharing him.  It seems the lady that we saw downstairs was guarding the boiler room, where Paul and the maintenance men were.  By the time we left, there was talk of putting in a RV site so Paul could volunteer.

Jan stopped by while I was writing this blog and visited.  It's getting late, and we haven't decided where we are headed in the morning.  I'll add our second stop in tomorrow's blog.
