Anticipating Tomorrow's Arrival

Rose City, Texas
Boomtown RV Park

The temperature this morning when we hitched up was 43 degrees.  It was dry but cloudy.  George led the way east across highway 105.  The highway was a black road on the atlas, but it was pretty smooth and had a wide shoulder.

I just love riding through these old western towns.

George made a nice pit stop right in front of a donut shop.  The donuts hit the spot.  I have observed that while every town in Texas has the best barbecue, they also have a donut shop.  Maybe there might be more donut shops than barbecues.  What do you think?

Our plan was to stop at the Elk's Lodge RV park in Beaumont.  They were having a $10 chicken fried steak dinner and the car parking lot was packed.  It was like threading a needle to get back to the RV park.  Once back there we found one site in one row and one in another.  The host said they could put a rig on the far row.  We all saw all the mud and George came back to verify that we do not have four wheel drive.  We all agreed to go down the road and find someplace else.

I started calling the RV parks in Vinton.  I tried 5 different parks and none of them had a site, much more 3 sites.

I called Carlena frustrated and she found a Passport America park 5 miles behind us.  We have 50 amp full hook ups and they were even pull thrus for $20.  We were able to all park side by side.

The park is around this huge lake.

Harry tried to show me how to cast.  I must admit it's harder than it looks.

All of a sudden we saw this head pop out of the water--  it was a turtle!
Harry said maybe we should go get something to eat and fish some other time.

We didn't have a lot to pick from but George saw good reviews on the New York Pizza and Pasta.  It was a couple of miles away and was very good.  The sun finally came out and the weather forecast looks good.

It's only about 130 miles to our next week's destination.  It will feel good to stay for a week in one place.

Everyone is excited about tomorrow.

Turtle Safely.......

  1. These cool evenings certainly don't remind us of Arizona. I do like the daytime temperatures. Be safe and "turtle" safely down the road.

    1. Thanks, Jeri. Hope to see you in along the road. I know I asked you before, but I forgot. Are you going to the Escapade?
