Oakwood RV Resort
Fredericksburg, Texas
We all would have liked to stay longer in Junction, but without cell service we decided to move on down the road. As we were having our morning coffee outside, we checked out the map to find out which way we were headed. It was decided that we'd stay in Fredericksburg at the fairgrounds.
George led the way and took us through the countryside. One look at the RV section of the fairgrounds and we all decided to find someplace else. Oakwood RV Resort had three sites next to each other.
Once parked, Bill, George and I went to the National Museum of the Pacific War. We were told that our tickets were good for 48 hours. Once we started through the museum we understood why the tickets were good for 48 hours.
This was one of the Japanese midget submarines that attacked Pearl Harbor.
This is what the "bomb" looked like.
There was so much to see and I must admit some places that I had no idea that Americans were fighting.
I can't believe all the exhibits this museum has.
George had been here before, but still enjoyed the place.
The Pacific Combat Zone was two blocks away but still part of the ticket price.
Bill liked this quote.
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Here's the living history amphitheater where reenactments are held.
When we returned there was the great aroma we smelled. Harry had out his smoker and was fixing turkey breast for everyone.
It was a great meal and we enjoyed the evening.
Another great day.
Turtle Safely......
We have never visited the Pacific War Museum. Looks like we better make another trip and see it. Looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt is excellent, but plan on two full days to view it.
DeleteThe museum is on our bucket list.
ReplyDeleteWell worth making a detour for. Senior rate for the 48 pass is $12.
DeleteSo much fun traveling with friends! I've never been to that museum. It looks VERY interesting.
ReplyDeleteWell worth the $12 admission.
ReplyDeleteWe did that museum two years ago. There was even something on the ship Terry was on posted in the museum. He found that interesting. We're moving on to Fredericksburg today.
