Betty's RV Park
The thought of driving to the Orphan Train Museum just didn't appeal to any of us this morning. Instead we decided to ride over to New Iberia to tour Shadows on the Teche and have lunch at Bon Creole.
Here's a replica of the Shadows on the Teche mansion we toured.
It wasn't quite what we expected. The tour began across the street where we viewed a short video about the people who lived there.
Harry Carlena, me, Linda and George at the rear of the house.
Our guide told us that 85% of the furnishings were original to the home.
I love these big oak trees with moss.
Our guide suggested we stop at Victor's for lunch. We'd heard Betty mention Victor's so we decided to try it instead of Bon Creole.
It was packed but since it was a cafeteria it didn't take long to go through the line.
We couldn't all sit together, but another couple from Betty's was there, so George and Linda sat with them. I think George was trying to keep us from seeing his pie.
We walked a short distance to this flea market and checked it out. Whenever we pass someone on the street they always ask us where we are from. The second question is "are we staying at Betty's."
On the way back to the truck we walked through a city park.
We had enough time to relax for a couple of hours before we left for Kaplan. Betty made reservations for everyone for dinner at B's Wild Wings.
All of us agreed that the place looked too good to have good food.
There's a second table of Betty's RVers to the left of this one.
Linda and I both ordered three pounds of crawfish.
I dug into mine but Linda had a real rhythm to peeling them.
I thought these were much better and bigger than the last time we were in Cajun country.
Our trays were so large that Linda and I had to hang ours of the edge of the table.
Linda was smiling the whole time she was eating hers. George tried one little bite and decided he didn't like them. Of course, George also said he didn't care for shrimp. He had shrimp for lunch and a shrimp po-boy for dinner. Bill also had shrimp for lunch. I think they both have had shrimp every day since we've been here.
The weather forecast predicted a chance of rain and windy today, but we haven't had rain and the wind died down. We'll see what the weather is tomorrow. Our plans are for us to leave here about 7:30 am.
Turtle Safely.........
Sounds like a great day with good foods and fellowship. Boy, that was a big tray of crawfish.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't take any time at all. The waitress tried to talk us into the five pound tray.
