Betty's RV Park
Abbeyville, LA
The drive over to Betty's was an easy one except it was misty outside when we left.
When we arrived, Betty directed everyone into their sites. She knows exactly how far back in the site people need to be so that she can fit 17 rigs in here. They are packed tight but no one cares.
For those of you who have never experienced Betty's, here she is.
Jim and Nanc stopped and said "hi" and said they were on their way to Abshire's Country Store for a shrimp salad. I told them we'd be there when we were set up.
We were all headed over in our truck as it holds six people. On the way over to our truck Linda and George walked past someone who had just arrived with Illinois license plates.
It is a very small world when you travel. George and Linda's niece is married to Joe and Melinda's son. We invited them to the country store.
Harry and George ordered the pork chop special. We were told that since there were six of us the shrimp for the salads would take up all the room on the grill so if someone else wanted something grilled, they'd have to wait. No problem for us, the rest of us ordered the salad.
We watched the couple prepare the salads. I've never had a salad that tasted this good before.
We were told if we wanted to sit at the table, they had two chairs in the back room.
Bill counted 12 large shrimp on his salad. It also had jalapenos, onions, mushrooms, bacon, lettuce and I forget what else.
You never heard a table get so quiet when the food arrived.
What's the old saying? You can't judge a book by it's cover? Well that applies to everything in this cajun country.
Yes, we will be back.
George and Linda are in a 30 amp water site, but will move tomorrow once someone moves out of a full hook up site. They didn't unhitch.
Here's looking out our front door. The last time we were here we couldn't get satellite because of all the trees. I remember Dave and Lynn Cross were in this site and they got satellite. I hit the switch and the satellite worked. It's pointed directly into the trees. Harry is in a more direct line and his isn't working.
By the time we finished setting up, it was almost time for happy hour. I told Linda and Carlena not to plan on fixing anything for dinner. Once happy hour started they understood.
Here's a few photos from happy hour.
There were so many people there was a second row.
There was way too much food.
Tomorrow is undecided, but we'll find something to do. We've already decided where to go for lunch.
Turtle Safely..........
Emjoyed your blog, Jan!!!
