Buck and Johnny's

Abbeville, Louisiana
Betty's RV Park

The rain looked like it would start this morning so Bill moved the truck closer to the coach.

It was a great idea because the sky let loose right before we were to leave.

By 7:30 when we were leaving the rain stopped, but we had a big puddle to walk through.  Harry grabbed the keys and drove it out of the water so Bill, Carlena and I didn't get our shoes wet.

Yes, we left at 7:30 this morning.  What can I say?  Betty recommended we go to breakfast at Buck and Johnny's.  If Betty recommends something, we go.

We arrived at Buck and Johnny's about 45 minutes later.  The place was packed and we found a table upstairs.

She was a part owner and came by to welcome us and ask us where we came from.  She asked us how we heard about the place and when we said "Betty".  She said yes, in Abbeville.

We had a cajun breakfast.  I ordered scrambled eggs with rice and crawfish etouchee.  Bill had an omelet with boudin.  It was excellent!

We were told that the band was late starting because they couldn't bring in the instruments when it was raining.

I love the Zydeco music.  As soon as the band started, the dance floor was crowded.

The place reminds me of Pete's Garage in Michigan.  It appears to have been a two story garage.

They served unlimited bloody marys and mimosa for $15.00 but I don't think there was a lot of drinking going on as many never left the dance floor.

It was a fun place and I have to say the first time we ever went for breakfast and Zydeco music.

We watched a movie on TV while vegging after we returned until it was time for happy hour.  Betty wasn't at happy hour but about 8 of us showed up anyway.

  1. I look forward to meeting Betty someday. She sounds like a wonderful person, and I know I would enjoy the music at the different venues in the area. I hear her name often in various blogs. Glad you are having a great time. Can't believe Escapade is barely a month away.

  5. Been so long since we've seen rain that I'm not sure we would know how to function anymore. Sure could use some out here. Zydeco music is wonderful. They do know how to have a good time in that part of the world.
